SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- After a two year hiatus, the Latino-Americano Festival returned to Syracuse on Saturday. The Latino community gathered for a day of salsa dancing, food, and free ice cream for the kids.
Organizers said they received numerous requests to bring the popular event back.
"We didn't have a festival for the last two years, and the community was talking to all of us asking why we are not celebrating our culture. We're growing and growing, and shrinking with things to do," said Fanny Villarreal, event organizer. "So I decided to call different people and organizations, and they said okay, we can help. Let's work together and you see thats how this happened."
The event also features booths with free healthcare screenings and health information.
