SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Three people were hospitalized after being bitten by a dog. Police say the pit bull mix got out of its fenced-in yard and bit a three-year-old boy, five-year-old girl, and 21-year-old woman.

Officials say the kids were playing outside a house on Midland Avenue when the dog attacked them. The mother of the children, Jakia Leonard, 21, was bitten when she tried to intervene.

The owner of the dog, Sara Myers, 29, turned the dog over to an Animal Control officer.

No tickets have been issued.
