Former teacher pleads guilty
SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- A former Syracuse teacher has pleaded guilty to endangering the welfare of a child.
Jesus Rolon, 34, was originally charged with criminal sexual act when he was arrested earlier this year for allegedly having sexual contact with a minor.
Rolon was taken into custody after two inmates recognized him at the Onondaga County Justice Center, where he had been working as a teacher through the city school district. One of the men said he had a sexual encounter with Rolon in his DeWitt home in September of 2010, along with a second incident where authorities say Rolon paid the victim.
Rolon is expected to be sentenced to three years probation this October. He also agreed to give up his teacher's license under the plea agreement.
