ONONDAGA COUNTY, N.Y. -- The Central New York SPCA is offering a thousand dollar reward for information in a dog abuse case.

On Thursday, a State Trooper found a dog on Hitchings Road in the Town of Onondaga with a flea collar embedded in its neck. The trooper called animal control, which came and brought the dog to the SPCA.

The five- to six-month-old Shepard mix is expected to be ok, but the search continues for the person responsible.

"It's a lack of caring, it's a lack of responsibility by the owner. That's why we got involved and that's why we are caring for the animal. Hopefully we will have information soon to pursue and charge somebody,” said Paul Morgan, Executive Director of the CNY SPCA.

Anyone with information is asked to call animal cruelty and (315) 454-3469.
