TULLY, N.Y. -- The Pride of Tully was back on the track Saturday hoping to win a medal at the Olympics in London. Lopez Lomong ran in the men's 5,000 meter final, but came a few seconds short of the gold. Lomong finished tenth, with a time of just over 13 minutes and 48 seconds.

A big crowd gathered at Tully High School to watch the race. Lomong moved to Tully and was adopted by a family there after fleeing his home in Sudan. And while he may not have finished at the top, community members say they couldn't be more proud of their local hero.

"The level of ability on that track, right there, for that race, is absolutely amazing. To have three American guys up there, there were three Ethiopians up there, and the big British guy, Mo Farah, the guy who won it, he ran in trials with Lopez," said Jim Paccia, High School Track Coach. "Just to be in that arena, on that track, with all those other professional athletes is just tremendous."

British runner Mo Farah placed first, crossing the finish line in just over 13 minutes and 41 seconds.
