CORTLAND COUNTY, N.Y. -- The Cortland County Sheriff's Office is investigating an attempted robbery at a Burger King. They say it happened in the Burger King Parking Lot on Route 222 in the Town of Cortlandville Monday night.

Investigators say David Swingle, 20, of Whitney Point forced another male to the ground by hitting him in the shoulder and demanded money. He was stopped by Cortland City Police within minutes.

The victim was not seriously injured.

Swingle is charged with third degree attempted robbery and harassment.
