Town of Owasco goes tobacco-free
OWASCO, N.Y. -- A Cayuga County town is going tobacco-free for all recreational facilities. The Town of Owasco, along with the Cayuga County Tobacco Free Partnership, announced the new tobacco-free policy Wednesday.
Cayuga Community Health Network representatives say this policy is to “provide a safe and healthy environment for community members, visitors, employees and/or volunteers.”
The areas to be tobacco-free include town-owned recreational facilities such as basketball courts, tennis courts and bocce courts, Town of Owasco playgrounds, bathrooms and pavilions in town-owned areas and parking lots attached to these areas.
