Bristol-Myers Squibb site scheduled for demolition

ONONDAGA COUNTY, N.Y. -- More than a dozen buildings at the Bristol-Myers Squibb DeWitt site are scheduled for demolition.

The Brownfield Cleanup Program is assisting the Bristol-Myers Squibb site in removing and restoring buildings that were formerly used for the production of penicillin and other pharmaceutical products.

Several buildings have already been demolished in the almost 24 acre area located off of Thompson Road in East Syracuse. The buildings that will be left untouched will continue to be utilized for commercial, industrial and residential purposes.

Once the projected demolition is completed in September 2013, the extra area will be used for vegetation or paved for parking lots and roadways.
