OSWEGO COUNTY, N.Y. -- After a year of discussions, plans to repurpose Parish Elementary School are entering the final stages.
A meeting was held Wednesday at Parish town hall to fill the public in on potential changes and give people a sense of how it could benefit the community.
A team from Fairweather Consulting, who is helping broker the deal says they are looking to sell the elementary school for a potential business or industrial use. They say ideally, a single business would purchase and occupy the entire school and put the building to good use.
"We're pretty excited that this would be a positive development for the community and add a lot of vitality, contribute to the revenues of the local governments and put an important community resource back to use, on behalf of the community," said Peter Fairweather, President of Fairweather Consulting.
A letter of intent has been submitted to the Village of Parish from a company that makes laboratory equipment, called Biospherix. Through the purchase, the company would be able to double their 52 person work force within just a couple of years.
