Dungey, Musquin sweep motocross races at Unadilla

NEW BERLIN, N.Y. (AP) - Ryan Dungey raced to his eighth straight victory to wrap up his second career AMA Pro Motocross season title Saturday, sweeping the 450 Class motos.

The Red Bull KTM rider from Belle Plaine, Minn., has 22 career 450 Class victories. He ended the season points battle with two races to go.

"It was a pretty amazing day,'' Dungey said. "To be honest, I knew we could wrap up today, but my focus was putting on a solid performance and moving forward. Mike (Alessi) has been riding well, but unfortunately there was a DNF. In the second moto, I just wanted to put in a solid ride and wrap up this championship.

"It's amazing to see everything that's gone in to making this moment happen. It's pretty special.''

In the 250 Class, Red Bull KTM's Marvin Musquin of France raced to his first U.S. victory.

Two locals placed in the event with Syracuse's Robert Kiniry finishing 11th in the 450 Class and Utica's Mitchell Dougherty coming in 29th in the 250 Class.
