Another year of the Dick's Sporting Goods Open ends in Endicott. Sunday marked the last day for the competition with some big names making the trip on The Champions Tour. Our Elyse Mickalonis spoke with fans who say they’re glad En-Joie Golf Course was able to recover from last year's flooding.

ENDICOTT, N.Y. -- The sun was shining Sunday for the last day of the Dick's Sporting Goods Open in Endicott. Many visitors say the weekend lived up to the hype.

“We’ve been here for the whole weekend. It’s neat, it’s different to watch it in person. It’s more exciting. And there’s a lot to do here,” Pennsylvania resident Kim Cosklo said.

Megan Cosklo added, “It’s really fun and it’s so fun, because this is like my first time.”

Event volunteer Jarvis Rojas said, “A lot of people don’t think much happens in the area, but this event is a big deal. It gives people something to do.”

Some of the biggest names in the history of golf teed off against each other in The Champions Tour. Fans enjoyed plenty of food and some even picked up some tips to improve their game. Many say it was cool to see their favorite players so close to home.

"It's really exciting to see them up close, walking by, be a person's length away from you, amazing to see them hit the ball,” said Kim Cosklo.

Binghamton resident Tom McCarthy says the event means a lot to the area.

“It brings money into the community and you see a lot of people you wouldn’t normal see all year long down here,” said McCarthy.

But perhaps the biggest surprise for fans and players is how good the green looks after last year’s flooding.

“It’s absolutely beautiful. The greens are beautiful, the course is gorgeous. They took care of it,” said Cosklo.

"It looks great. I mean, a heck of a job they've here and keeping things moving along and keep this event going,” said John Sedlak, an Endicott resident.

An event that brings people closer to the players.
