ROME, N.Y. -- Firefighters spent an hour battling smoke and flames at a Rome apartment building Tuesday evening.
A fire broke out around 5 p.m. at the building on West Embargo Street.
Everyone living in the five apartments was able to get out safely. One person was treated for smoke inhalation.
Crews believe the fire started in the upstairs apartment. They will continue to investigate the cause.
