WATERTOWN, N.Y. -- The state Attorney General says one of the head shops it filed a lawsuit against earlier this year, Trip on the Wild Side II in Watertown, has settled.

Eric Schneiderman has announced the company will pay $25,000 in fines and $2,000 more in costs for selling synthetic and alternative street drugs illegally. Kenneth Wayne Hamm will also never be allowed to sell the products, commonly referred to as bath salts, in his stores again.

The AG says Trip on the Wild Side II had been selling the products under false names and re-labeling the packaging to get around state laws.

Schneiderman's Assistant Attorney General in Watertown says settlements like these are a great thing for the fight on the sale of these drugs.

"I think the approach is very sound. It casts a broad net and the economic penalties associated with it will hopefully take some of the fun out of selling drugs over the counter," said Assistant Attorney General In-Charge Deanna Nelson said.

The owner of Tebb's Head Shops, John Tebbetts, is set to appear in state Supreme Court in Watertown Thursday morning to answer the suit filed against him for many of the same reasons.
