ENDWELL, N.Y. -- Christopher Del Bianco, 21, has some big goals for Broome County.

“There’s a lot of younger people who are very opinionated, but there’s not a lot of people who run, so I wanted to change that,” said Christopher Del Bianco, (R) Broome County Legislature Candidate.

The Binghamton University senior held a news conference Friday afternoon in Endwell announcing his candidacy for Broome County Legislator. He’ll be running against Republican and current Broome County Legislator John Black in District 8. Del Bianco says the process has been exciting, right down to petitioning.

“When I was going around getting signatures, which I did all myself, I didn’t have help from the Republican Party. I talked to a lot of people about that and they were enthusiastic to see someone younger with different ideas,” said Del Bianco.

“Normally you get the Republican Party to help you out with something like that, but we decided to do something on our own, got 200 signatures," said Anthony Talerico, Campaign Manager. "We really went for it and spent countless hours doing it, and it was well worth it. We got to know people, it was on a more personal level.”

Del Bianco aims to build a county nursing home to take care of the aging population, promote flood recovery, and more.

“He certainly wants to see flood recovery,” said Ken Del Bianco, candidate’s father. “I know he wants to push Broome County Economic Development and the IDA to get development here in Endwell to replace assists from the flooding.”

"On Hooper Road traffic gets congested, so I want to study how how we can improve traffic on Hooper Road especially during the morning hours and rush hour," explained Del Bianco.

And with voters approval, he could be given the chance to bring those lofty goals to Broome County come November. Del Bianco says his platform also includes lowering taxes and promoting business. His opponent, John Black, told YNN he hopes to continue fiscal conservatism and planning.
