NEW YORK STATE FAIR -- Spending the day at the fair can sometimes leave you with a lighter wallet, but you could walk away from one booth with some extra cash.
The State Comptroller’s office has a booth in the Center of Progress building where you can look to see if you have any unclaimed funds. There are more than 28 million accounts in the state that have money that hasn't been collected.
Monday morning, the Syracuse Stage was awarded $725 of their own money that they just hadn't claimed. And while most unclaimed funds are about $50 to $100, there are a few worth much, much more.
"We have an account valued at about $1.7 million that hasn't been claimed and a few years ago, we actually had a $4 million account, so it’s not quite the lottery, but we do say you never know," State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli said.
