TIOGA COUNTY, N.Y. -- A Tioga County Family Court Judge has been censured after he accidentally discharged a gun inside a courthouse.

The Commission on Judicial Conducted investigated an incident involving Judge Vincent Sgueglia, which happened back in January of 2010. According to court documents, Sgueglia discharged his gun while trying to fix it inside his courthouse chambers.

The incident violated a local ordinance making it illegal to fire a gun under certain regulations.

Sgueglia was also censured for approving his own pistol permit back in 2005.

Sgueglia has served as Tioga County Court, Family Court and Surrogate’s Court Judge since 1993. His current term expires December of this year.
