CNY Red Cross deploys volunteers to the Gulf
CENTRAL NEW YORK -- The Red Cross is sending help from Central New York to the Gulf Coast in anticipation of what Isaac could bring.
The Red Cross has sent close to a dozen more volunteers down south. Seven people left for Montgomery, Alabama and Baton Rouge, Louisiana to work in mass care shelters. Four other volunteers from the area left Friday to assist care shelters in Florida as residents saw heavy rain, power outages and flooding.
Overall, the Central New York Chapter of the Red Cross has deployed 26 volunteers to provide shelter and help in case of emergency from the approaching Tropical Storm.
