Day 6 at the New York State Fair is highlighted by Beef Day. Throughout the day, you're encouraged to visit many exhibits at the fair to learn more about the state's beef industry. YNN's Brad Vivacqua visited the Beef Cattle Barn has more on Beef Day.

NY STATE FAIR – Monday was Dairy Day, highlighting what the dairy industry means to New York State. The beef industry is also very important. Today, you’ll find a number of beef cattle competitions and displays to highlight Beef Day.

In the Beef Cattle Barn, visitors can check out the different many varieties of beef cattle and learn about the industry. Statistics show there are more than 235,000 beef cattle in New York State, and each cow is worth more than $1,000.

Beef farmers from across the state work very hard all year round to ensure they are raising their cattle correctly. One farmer we spoke to says it's important to make that message clear to the public.

"These cattle are raised for a purpose, and that purpose is for beef ultimately. These cattle are seed stock at the moment where they're going to go on and breed cattle for other people, or for ourselves but ultimately, all must come to beef and we want people to understand that these cattle have a good healthy life and this is a great healthy product for them to eat," said Robert Groom, Tullyfergus Angus Farm.

As for musical entertainment today, the Grandstand is dark tonight but there are good shows at Chevy Court that come with the price of admission. You can catch the 1960s tribute band the Midtown Men to bring you down memory lane at 2 p.m. And at 8 p.m., it's American rock band Collective Soul.

It's also the second Senior Day. That means people 60 years old and older get into the fair for free.
