NEW YORK STATE FAIR – Thursday was Fire and Rescue Day at the New York State Fair. A number of memorial ceremonies were held outside the Horticultural Building to honor those who have died in the line of duty.
Three firefighters who lost their lives this year were memorialized in stone. Their names will forever be remembered here on the fairgrounds.
FASNY officials say it is important to always remember those who have given all for their communities.
"We must always remember our fallen and we treat them with respect and we make sure that they are honored in places like this, so that the public knows, that they made a sacrifice for their safety," said FASNY President Jim Burns.
