It's a big day for country music fans at the fair and as YNN's Erin Clarke tells us, officials and police are preparing for the crowds.

NEW YORK STATE FAIR – Seventeen thousand people are expected to come the New York State Fair Friday to see Jason Aldean perform.

"We expect a lot of people to come out and just have a great day at the fair," said New York State Fair Director Dan O’Hara.

It's the first sold out concert this year. The fair is providing extra security around the fairgrounds and at the grandstand. State Police expect heavy traffic on nearby roads.

"If they are coming westbound on 690 to get off at exit 690, which is off the 695 exit ramp," said New York State Police Troop D Public Information Officer Jack Keller.

That exit will lead right to the orange upper parking lot, where a shuttle will transport fairgoers to the concert.

Even if you're not attending the concert, state fair officials say you should prepare for it if you're coming out to the fair tonight.

More people on the grounds before the concert begins may also cause some congestion at other popular spots.

"People gravitate towards the midway. You'll be able to hear it a little bit from the grandstand and just up and down restaurant row, you'll be able to hear,” O’Hara said.

O'Hara's advice to fairgoers: Avoid the dinner time rush or a big crowd anywhere at the fair right before the 7:30 concert, come out a couple of hours early and enjoy everything else the fair has to offer.
