ELLISBURG, N.Y. -- The teen driver involved in a fatal crash in Jefferson County town of Ellisburg over the weekend remains in critical condition at Upstate University Hospital.

Sheriff's deputies say 19-year-old Gaige Knapp of Watertown was driving a Corvette Saturday night when he lost control of the car, hit an embankment, then rolled over several times. A passenger, 17-year-old Trevor Robinson of Adams, died at the scene.

Officials say speed is believed to be a factor in the crash.

The accident is still under investigation.
