We found more than a few young shoppers updating their wardrobes at Destiny USA on Monday. Some parents admitted it was a last minute shopping trip, while others say they planned it around the sales.
Either way, kids say they look forward to the shopping more than actually going back to school.
"Yeah I do look forward to getting new clothes. Because I like to go shopping, I think it's fun," said Brooke Huffman, Chittenango Junior High School student.
The National Retail Federation predicted that spending would increase for this school year. They say the average person with children in grades K - 12 will spend about $688.
