LEWIS COUNTY, N.Y. -- Much like the Governor's Regional Economic Development Council, the communities around Fort Drum are now working together to raise their profile.
In March of last year, a partnership was formed between communities, development agencies and more called Drum Country Business. It's designed to market the Jefferson, St. Lawrence and Lewis County areas to businesses interested in the Fort Drum market.
Tuesday, Lewis County lawmakers were given an update on how it's been working so far. And with the communities working together, they've all been able to be a part of a national marketing effort to help grow current and generate new business.
"You see with the North Country Regional Economic Development Council and the state level as well because you leverage more resources over a larger area. You can share more resources at a fraction of the cost and everyone benefits," said Michelle Capone, DANC Director of Regional Development.
Capone says projections show the potential for an area like Lewis County to see $12 for every single dollar it puts in.
