Police investigating suspicious incidents in New Hartford

NEW HARTFORD, N.Y. -- New Hartford Police are investigating two suspicious incidents where masked men reportedly tried to force their way into peoples' homes.

Tuesday night, a homeowner called 911 saying a man wearing a mask and armed with a handgun knocked on their door and demanded to be let into the home on Paris Road. He wound up running off after the resident threatened to call police.

Then around 6:30 a.m. Wednesday, a woman living on Clinton Road called police saying a masked man was pounding on her back door to be let into the house. The victim in that case told police the man was carrying a stick.

Police say it appears these incidents may be related, but they are continuing to investigate.
