ONEIDA COUNTY, N.Y. -- Pre-trial hearings continue for a man accused of raping and killing a Utica woman in 2007.

Jennifer Bennett's body was found behind the Deerfield Fire Department and until this past March, no arrests have been made. But five years later, a DNA match made Craig Ingersoll the prime suspect.

Two investigators took the stand Monday to describe their interview with him and the statement he gave. The witnesses say that during the two-and-a-half hour interview, Ingersoll eventually admitted that he knew Bennett through her job as a prostitute. He also made admissions pertaining to the homicide.

A few of Bennett's family members attended the hearing. They say they hope justice is served and plan to attend every court date.

"There's a lot of unanswered questions that we won't get. So he has to look at us and know she has someone there for her," said Denise Bennett, the victim’s sister.

This pre-trial hearing has been adjourned until Friday, September 13th, where the defense will call a witness to the stand. They'll hear from the corrections officer who escorted Ingersoll to the interview.

The trial is scheduled to begin by November.
