Two arrested in connection with string of bank robberies
NEW YORK STATE -- Two Syracuse men have been identified as suspects in a string of bank robberies both in Central and Western New York.
Brandon Rothenburgh and James Nicholson, both 34, have been accused of committing four robberies: Three in Gates and one in Auburn.
The Bank of America on Grant Avenue in Auburn was robbed on August 30th when a masked man jumped the counter and demanded money from a teller.
Police say the other robberies happened in similar fashion.
Both Rothenburgh and Nicholson have been charged with conspiring to commit bank robbery and bank robbery. The charges carry a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison and up to a $250,000 fine.
