Central New Yorkers will get the opportunity to take a look at some of the latest and greatest in home designs during a two week period. As YNN's Erin Clarke tells us, the Parade of Homes kicked off Saturday, and builders say there's something for everyone at the event.

BREWERTON, N.Y. -- Area builders are showing Central New Yorkers what their dream home could look like.

Mark Harrington of Harrington Homes and his wife Karen have been showing consumers the latest in design and construction at the Parade of Homes since 1994. For people in the market to buy, the event is an opportunity to visualize a new home. For builders it's a chance to gain new clients.

"We get the opportunity to meet more and more people and it gives us a chance to talk to people and find out what they're interested in," said Mark Harrington.

The builders know that everyone coming to the Parade of Homes isn't interested in buying a home, but the visit is still beneficial because many people walk away with ideas for sprucing up their home.

"You definitely bring home a lot of ideas, look at your home in a different way," said Dan Wall.

"It allows you to rethink your budget," added Linda Woodford

Though some are just drawing inspiration right now, that may be the seed planted for bigger projects down the line.

"We've had customers that have tracked us at the Parade of Homes for five years before they've signed on," said Karen Harrington.

When and if you are ready to jump into a new home those featured at the Parade are sold at discounted prices. So whether the visit to the Parade of Homes is for buying or browsing, your dream home can be realized.

Parade of Homes runs through September 23, from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. during the week, and 11:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. on weekends.
