TROY, N.Y. - With the added pressure of family and friends watching in the stands, Auburn starting pitcher David Fischer made his homecoming a successful one as the Doubledays stayed alive in the New York-Penn League playoffs with a 5-2 win at Tri-City on Sunday.
Fischer, who was born in nearby Scotia, allowed one run over 4 1/3 innings and got the benefit of a three-run lead before he even took the mound. Brandon Miller and Wander Ramos each had two hits and two RBI to lead the offense.
The win ties the best-of-three semifinal series at one game apiece, setting up a deciding matchup at Monday night at Tri-City.
