SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- A community organization that brings natural, local, and organic food to neighbors in Syracuse celebrated a milestone. The Syracuse Real Food Co-op put on a party Sunday to celebrate 40 years.
The co-op was first formed in 1972, and they opened their store on Kensington Road, just off Westcott Street, four years later.
The group currently has thousands of members, but the store is actually open to anyone who wants to stop by.
"Our job is to make you feel comfortable and make you feel at home when you come in. So, sometimes there's these hurdles, do I have to be a member, do I have to know someone? No, it's nothing like that. You just come in and shop, and we're glad to serve," said Travis Hance, Syracuse Real Food Co-op General Manager.
