UTICA, N.Y. -- Two men were arrested in Utica following an incident involving a loaded handgun. Police say they responded to the 100 block of Taylor Avenue Sunday afternoon for several men threatening people with guns.
They say an officer tried to arrest Wayne Sessoms, 19, but another man tried to stop the officer. That man, Samuel Kearney, 30, was taken into custody. He was charged with obstructing governmental administration and unlawful possession of marijuana.
Sessoms fled on foot and police say he threw a loaded handgun over a fence. He was arrested a few blocks away, and police say the handgun found was stolen during a burglary in 2009.
Sessoms is charged with criminal possession of stolen property and criminal possession of a weapon.
