BINGHAMTON, N.Y. -- Entrepreneurs will soon have an opportunity to present their startup business ideas.

The City of Binghamton has been selected to host a Startup Weekend. The 54 hour event will allow participants to pitch their startup business ideas to other entrepreneurs.

The top 15 concepts will be selected and then teams will get together and discuss how to transform each idea into a marketable business model. Participants will also receive feedback from experts and have an opportunity to win prizes and services.

Organizers say the competition is great way for those with ideas to receive advice and experience. They hope it will also create opportunities for new business development.

"That’s what makes it so unique having it in our community, it provides that opportunity where this idea that starts from just a few people meeting in a room sharing ideas, sharing food and then transform into a business model that can develop in the City of Binghamton," said Omar Sanders, Startup Weekend Binghamton Organizer.

The event will be held from November 9th through 11th at the Riverwalk Hotel in Binghamton.
