AUBURN, N.Y. -- The City of Auburn showed its true community spirit Wednesday night with hundreds of people filling the park on Market Street to pray for a baby boy.
A concert and prayer vigil was held for Easton Friedel, who was born three weeks ago with a painful and incurable condition where skin is blistered or missing entirely in areas. His parents are with him in Cincinnati where he's undergoing special treatment, but were able to watch the vigil through a live web stream.
Family members who were on hand say they were shocked by the amount of support.
"This is amazing. The outpour of the community, how a community comes together. I have been to many benefits, I have never seen this much outpour on such a little life," said Lori Bodoh, Easton’s great aunt.
More than $141,000 has already been raised for the family's medical expenses. They've also created a Baby Easton Friedel Facebook page for updates on his condition.
