Two arrested in ATM skimming case

NEW YORK STATE -- Two people are facing charges following an investigation into ATM skimming in Central New York and the Southern Tier.

Following an investigation involving the Secret Service and police in Syracuse and Endicott, authorities arrested Catalin Pitut, 28, and Dimitru Predoi, 41, both Romanian citizens. The pair is accused of stealing bank card info by putting stripe readers and pin hole cameras on ATMs and then creating counterfeit cards.

The pair was caught after authorities say they attached the devices to an ATM in Broome County.

Both have now been charged with possession of access device making equipment, conspiracy to commit access device fraud and aggravated identity theft.
