SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Hundreds of volunteers are giving a little TLC to some homes in two Syracuse neighborhoods. They're coming together today for the Home HeadQuarters' annual Neighborhood Block Blitz.
The two neighborhoods to get a makeover are the 200 block of McLennan Avenue and the 500 block of Marcellus Street.
The volunteers are helping improve curb appeal by painting homes, repairing or replacing porches, planting trees, cleaning up yards, pulling down fences and much more.
"We look for a block that has a majority of homeowners. And on this side, on the south side, there's homeowners that have lived here for more than 40 years, so a lot of people, a lot of big, old beautiful homes that just need a little bit of help," said Karen Schroeder, Home HeadQuarters.
Volunteers include students and staff from Syracuse University, OCC students, neighborhood residents, and various corporate sponsors from around Syracuse.
