UTICA, N.Y. -- The Huntley hearing for the man accused of murdering Jennifer Bennett in 2007 fell short of the defense team's expectations.

Defense lawyers say their investigation led them to believe Craig Ingersoll asked for a lawyer while he was being transported to meet with an investigator. But the Oneida County corrections officer who allegedly transported Ingersoll testified he doesn't remember the suspect at all. He also said he doesn't remember Ingersoll ever asking him to speak with a lawyer.

Ingersoll's defense says the testimony is a setback, but they will now focus their efforts on the November trial.
