ELMIRA, N.Y. -- Community members gathered at Eldridge Park in Elmira for the third annual Walk for Recovery event. Approximately 100 people attended the walk around the park on Saturday.

People were able to participate in a scavenger hunt, and trace their footprints on a sheet to represent their support for those in recovery. The walk, hosted by Trinity, is meant to provide information on those abusing drugs and alcohol, but also to acknowledge that there is help when people need it.

"We want to reduce the stigma for addicts and those in recovery, and we really want to celebrate this, and let people know that there's absolutely nothing wrong with this, and that it's wonderful, and that we are so happy for those that have taken that step to go in the right direction," said Christie Speciale, Prevention Director at Trinity of Chemung County.

All proceeds and donations went towards Trinity PRIDE, which is the prevention resource information on drug education program.
