ELMIRA, N.Y. -- The event is aimed at getting the community more acquainted with the museum, Harris Hill Soaring Corporation, the amusement park and Harris Hill Park. Visitors were able to tour the museum for free, enjoy cupcakes made by local bakeries from this past week's cupcakes wars contest, and construct paper airplanes.
Directors said the event has lasted for two decades because year after year they get such a great response.
"It's just really about a community. None of us are out in this by ourselves so, we pull in different things from the community," said Lisa Bartlett, Event Coordinator.
The museum is the largest of four museums worldwide focused solely on motorless flight.
