ITHACA, N.Y. - Trailing Union 21-7 with under three minutes remaining on Saturday, the Ithaca College football team came back with a pair of Phil Neumann touchdown passes then got another in overtime to win 27-24.
The turning point came after Ithaca had cut the deficit to 21-14 and Union was trying to punt the ball deep in its own territory. The snap sailed over the kicker's head and Ithaca got possession at the 4-yard line which led to a touchdown pass to Steve DelMoro, and the extra point tied the score and forced overtime. Union got possession first and kicked a field goal but it would not be enough as Neumann connected with Joseph Ingrao just inside the end zone to send the Bombers into a frenzied celebration.
Ithaca is now 2-0.
