SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- The chance to run through a historic Syracuse neighborhood was just one of the highlights of the 11th annual Strathmore Parks Run on Sunday afternoon. The race took about 300 competitors on a four mile course through the neighborhood and some local parks.
It is part of a larger series of events known as the Syrathon, which organizers said highlights all that the city has to offer.
"It shows off, number one, our green space, our beautiful parks. And number two, it shows how different segments of the population come together and put these events on," said Tony Martin, Race Director.
The event also included food, games and activities for kids. Proceeds benefits the Strathmore Neighborhood Association and Sarah House, which provides lodging for families of those in local hospitals.
