SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- There’s good news for commuters in Syracuse. Interstate 690 west is back open after a delay due to construction.

Crews were finishing up work on the Peat Street Bridge, shutting down the stretch of highway between Thompson Road and Teall Avenue.

It was supposed to be open by noon yesterday, but didn't reopen until just before 11 p.m. Monday.

Unfortunately the work isn't over on 690. Starting Friday, the same work will be done over Peat Street affecting traffic on the eastbound side of the highway.

Future construction:

-I-690 Eastbound closing Friday, September 21st at 9 a.m. through Monday, September 24th at noon for construction on Peat Street Bridge
-I-690 Eastbound closing Friday, October 12th at 9 a.m. through Monday, October 15th at noon for construction on Crouse Avenue Bridge
-I-690 Westbound closing Friday, October 19th at 9 a.m. through Monday, October 22nd at noon for construction on Crouse Avenue Bridge.
