BROOME COUNTY, N.Y. – It’s national Sheriff's Week and the Broome County Sheriff's office is using it as a chance to showcase some of their equipment and inform the public about what they do.

Residents are invited to the Sheriff’s office on Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. to see a lot of the equipment that is at the department's disposal. Sheriff Harder says that this is a great way for taxpayers to see how the department is spending its money to protect residents as well as prepare for whatever emergency that may come.

"I think it makes the public more aware of the equipment that we have on hand and what we can do, and when they see articles of what we need they have a better understanding as to why," said David Harder, Broome County Sheriff.

Wednesday's events also include child safety seat inspections for anyone who would like to make sure they are properly installing their safety seats.
