Figure skating coach pleads not guilty to sexual abuse
ESSEX COUNTY, N.Y. -- A figure skating coach and former Olympic athlete has pleaded not guilty as he faces accusations that he sexually abused a teen.
Genrich Sretenski, 50, has been charged with the sexual abuse of a teenage student. The incident allegedly happened during a competition in Lake Placid back in July.
Srentenski's lawyer says the criminal charges have come from the same 16-year old girl whose family has filed a civil lawsuit against him in Maryland, where Srentenski lives and coaches.
Srentenski was arraigned Friday in Essex County on a felony sexual abuse charge and three misdemeanors. He was released on $50,000 bail and has returned to Maryland, but is due back in court in December.
