ROME, N.Y. -- Congressman Richard Hanna is furthering efforts to keep Griffiss facilities in Rome off the Air Force's radar, going into an expected Base Closure and Re-alignment Commission.

The Congressman toured the base's government and business enterprises with Air Force Assistant Secretary Kathleen Ferguson Tuesday. He says he is doing his best to show off the facilities before BRAC cuts hit in the next few years.

Hanna says the process saw a stroke of luck in the House budget stalemate. He claims the delay gives him extra time to make sure Griffiss is seen in the most positive light in budget talks.

"My goal in bringing Anthony Principi here, who was in charge of the last BRAC and Kathleen Ferguson, Secretary Ferguson, is to not get on that list, to be out in front of that possibility, build a case, show people who we are, what we are," said Hanna.

Hanna expects BRAC talks to be held off until at least 2015.
