ONONDAGA COUNTY, N.Y. – As of 7 a.m., more than 100 people are lined up to be the first to get their hands on the new iPhone 5. Apple stores won't open and have the phone available until 8 a.m., but that's not stopping folks from waiting in the mall hallway.
Store officials say Apple opened up pre-orders for the phone last Friday and took in more than two million pre-orders in 24 hours. Apple officials say anyone that pre-ordered the phone through them will have the device mailed to them directly.
Therefore, the people who are waiting this morning are just hoping to purchase what's in stock.
According to Apple's website, the iPhone 5 will be thinner, lighter, and include 4G LTE connectivity for faster speeds. It will also feature better picture quality, better battery life and new applications.
Apple officials say with a new contract you can purchase a new phone for between $199 and $399.
