DARIEN, N.Y. -- Darien Lake Theme Park in Genesee County is one of the most popular summer attractions in Upstate New York. And, despite still having another month to go before it closes for the season, it's already making plans for its 2013 season.
The theme park announced upgrades will be made to the Laser Blast Show, and a new thrill ride is being added. Darien Lake will add water technology and pyrotechnics to its classic laser show. The new show will be called Ignite the Night. It will feature a 60 foot water screen as the backdrop to a life-like video.
A new ride called Blast Off will be added to the Waterfront Boardwalk as well. The 185 foot ride will blast riders to the top of the tower, simulating a NASA launch. The park said both attractions will be ready for opening day on May 11.
