ITHACA, N.Y. -- Tompkins County residents learned all about sustainable foods, and even enjoyed live music at the second annual Food Justice Summit in downtown Ithaca on Saturday. The event works to promote social justice in the community, and raise funds to support a sustainable local food system.
The event kicked off with a walk-a-thon at the Neighborhood Pride grocery store, and followed with live music and cooking demonstrations. There were also many local organizations in attendance that work for sustainability and health within the community.
Proceeds from the event go towards supporting the Congo Square Market which provides fresh produce grown by local youth.
