SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- A unique neighborhood tradition brings thousands of people to Westcott Street in Syracuse. The 21st annual Westcott Street Cultural Fair kicked off at noon on Sunday.
The event features food, vendors, crafts, and music, but the main focus is on the neighborhood itself. The Westcott community uses the fair to promote a strong sense of unity while celebrating its diversity.
"It represents what we're all about here. Many people of different races, different economic situations, living together in harmony," said Sharon Sherman, Westcott Street Cultural Fair Committee.
100 volunteers from Syracuse University also take part in the fair.
