ALBANY, N.Y. -- A Mohawk Valley family gave $25,000 to the Ronald McDonald House in Albany. The donation was made through the Amazing Gracie Gift Foundation.
The Lawton family created the foundation after they lost their one-year-old daughter Gracie to liver cancer in January. The money will be used to build a new room at the facility. The Lawton's said the Ronald McDonald House was there for them when they needed the assistance the most, and that's why they want to help other families going through similar situations.
"Her name will live on here forever, and just knowing we're giving back to them. You know, if we didn't stay here, if they didn't open the doors for us, we would have been commuting back and fourth each day, one of us staying in the hospital, one of us staying home with Luke. And it would have taken a financial toll," explained Geoff Lawton, Gracie's father.
