AUBURN, N.Y. -- The family of an Auburn baby born with a painful skin condition is working towards gaining awareness of the incurable disease. Baby Easton Friedel was born just over a month ago with what doctors believe is Epidermolysis bullosa - or EB - which causes the skin to blister or be missing from some areas entirely.
Easton remains in critical condition in Cincinnati, Ohio and is undergoing special treatment.
His family held a fundraising event Sunday to raise money for medical help and awareness of the disease.
"At this point we don't know how much money we've collected, but it's going to be quite a bit. But it's a small drop in the bucket what it's going to cost to keep Easton going," said John Friedel, Easton's grandfather.
Easton's grandfather also tells us that September 23rd has been marked as EB Awareness Day.
