Three students charged in gang assault

CORTLAND, N.Y. -- Cortland Police made three arrests in connection with a gang assault. It happened on Groton Street late Friday night.

When police arrived, they found an 18-year-old male unconscious and bleeding. He was taken to Upstate University Hospital and is in stable condition. The victim is a SUNY Cortland student.

His alleged attackers are three Tompkins-Cortland Community college students.

Richard Renck, 19, Wayne Harris III, 19, and Malik Abdur-Rasheed, 18, are charged with first degree gang assault and second degree assault. All three have been suspended by the college.
